DATA PRIVACY
Welcome to the information on the Read Rest Retreat data privacy guidelines.
We have always followed this procedure (we know you would expect nothing less!) however due to recent GDPR implementation we’re spelling it out on our website for the world to see.
We are compliant in handling the information you share with us and here is what we do in a little more detail:
Personal data collected
We collect your name(s) so that we can have an ongoing dialogue, we collect your email address so that we can correspond with you, and we collect your phone number(s) so that we can call you if we need to get hold of you ie returning your calls, asking an important question about your retreat stay needs, etc. We also collect your postal address so that we can add this information to invoices and postal correspondence including sending your Read Rest Retreat information to you.
All of this is necessary for us to run the reading retreats.
How we collect and keep your personal data
If you contacted us via the contact form on the Read Rest Retreat website, this pings through into our email inbox which is accessed via a secure password. This password doesn’t contain any link to us. When you book your reading retreat with Read Rest Retreat, your email will be stored in the client database which is only accessible through secure computers. If you enquire but don’t book (you’ll be missing out if you don’t!) we will delete all of your data from the client database after the appropriate period has ended.
Blog commenting
We have a blog on my website which we know you all love to look at and where we can share with you news and information and past retreat write ups. If you choose to comment on it, please be mindful that this is public so don’t add any personal information you don’t want shared with the world (and beyond… they may be reading it on Mars!).
How we use cookies
Unfortunately, not the edible kind – although our fave is choc chip! A cookie in this instance is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer’s hard drive. Once you agree, the file is added and the cookie helps analyse web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site. Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences. We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps us to analyse information about web page traffic and improve the Read Rest Retreat website in order to tailor it to Client needs. This information is only used for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system.
Cookies help us to provide you with a better website by enabling us to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us. You can of course choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the website.
Links to other websites
The Read Rest Retreat website may contain links to other websites of interest. However, once you have used these links to leave our website, you should note that we do not have any control over that other website. Therefore, you alone are responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement. You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.
Right of confirmation, access, rectification and erasure
To be serious for a moment, if you do have any questions about how your personal data is handled please do just send us an email and we will explain how it all works and our process. We’re more than happy to show you the information we hold on you and you will be unsurprised to know that it is only information you have given us willingly. If however, any of said data is incorrect and you would like to correct it we can also sort that out.
If you’d like us to delete all your personal data with Read Rest Retreat, you have the right to request it, but we wouldn’t recommend asking for that before your booked reading retreat otherwise you may not receive the information you need.
Use of your data
So to summarise; we will use your email to email you about Read Rest Retreat reading retreats and if there’s something related Read Rest Retreat that we think you will find interesting or useful we will possibly email you about that too.
We do not share our client’s information with any third parties with the exception of the retreat attendee’s full names with the host venue (if requested) who may need these for their own health and safety procedures. When one of our team needs your name or needs to call you, we will share with them your information. All of the Read Rest Retreat team have signed NDAs. They will obviously also need your name. Unless of course you want them to call you HRH/Your Ladyship /Ma’am!
The questionnaire you fill in on booking a reading retreat with Read Rest Retreat which asks for information about you comes to us. To our Read Rest Retreat email inbox. Essentially all information you provide is voluntary.
Social media
We are active on social media. That’s probably how you found us. We like to showcase our wonderful Read Rest Retreat reading retreats. It all helps with the SEO for the ongoing success of the business. However, if you do not want to be recognisably visible in images taken at the retreat you attend, please just let us know in advance of the retreat.
