Is there a booking fee?
Yes, there is a non refundable booking fee of £450.00 which will be taken off your final balance payment.
What makes your retreats different?
We place books at the heart of everything. From your generous goody bags to the books we recommend, to the thoughtful reading nooks to slow mornings, peaceful afternoons, and fireside evenings. Every detail is designed to help you unwind, read deeply, and reconnect with yourself.
What should I bring?
Bring the books you are excited to read, that you are in the middle of and the ones you’ve always had sat on your TBR! Bring comfy clothes, any personal comforts you wish to have with you. We provide blankets, squishy cushions, soft lighting, beautiful reading rooms and grounds. There’s plenty of tea, coffee and treat to keep you company.
What’s included in my stay?
Your retreat includes beautifully appointed accommodation, all meals made by a professional chef made with fresh local ingredients, refreshments throughout the day, dedicated reading spaces, optional book discussions and full access to our library and countryside gardens. You will also get to have lunch or dinner with our selected guest author.
Do you cater for dietary requirements?
Yes. We happily accommodate most dietary needs – simply let us know when you book, and our team will prepare meals to suit you.
What does a typical day look like?
Expect unhurried mornings, generous free reading time, gentle optional activities, woodland or garden strolls, and quiet evenings by the fire. We provide structure only where it helps you relax – never where it would crowd your day.
Is there Wifi?
Yes, but you may find you don’t need it. Many guests choose to unplug to make the most of the peace and presence the countryside provides.
Can I come alone?
Absolutely. Many of our readers join us solo, seeking a restorative, book-filled escape. Read Rest Retreat is warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed to help you feel at ease from the moment you arrive. Many of the rooms can be booked for two people if coming as a couple or happy to share as friends. Please see the booking information for single and double occupancy options.
Can I bring my pet?
Assistance animals may attend by prior arrangement, depending on the property and other guests attending. Please speak to us before you confirm your booking so that we can advise which retreats will be able to accommodate your requirements. We do not accept pets.
